Meet Our Staff

Janet Henry,

Executive Director

 

Janet joined our team as Executive Director in February 2022! She is a native Campbell Countian and has lived in Knox County for several years. Janet is a graduate of Tusculum College, has a professional background in Human Resources and Business Finance, and feels honored to be part of CLC and back in Campbell County. In this role, Janet is looking forward to serving in the community and sharing the love of Jesus. She says, “I am excited about growing this program to reach as many students as possible. CLC is a much-needed light in our community for the new generation.” Outside of her professional work, Janet loves helping people, attending Bible studies, gardening, cooking, hiking, baking, and talking about Jesus.

Janet Henry

Stephanie Lloyd,

Program Director

Stephanie grew up in Oneida, TN, earned a Bachelor's degree in English Education (grades 6-12) from Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, and holds a Tennessee teaching license. In 2019, Stephanie moved to Campbell County to work at Galilee Bible Camp, where she had served for many years as a summer staff and program director. Through her work at the camp and her studies in the education field, Stephanie developed a passion for both teaching and Christian discipleship. The combination of these two passions has drawn her to seek out creative opportunities for vocational ministry. Stephanie taught CLC’s Introductory Old Testament and New Testament classes from 2019 to 2022. At the Christian Learning Center, she now serves as the program director, facilitating student engagement opportunities and overseeing curriculum and program development. Stephanie also currently works part-time as the Director of Discipleship for Fincastle United Methodist Church and Jellico United Methodist Church.

Tommie Laughlin,

Teacher

Tommie grew up in Pioneer, TN. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY, and holds a Tennessee teaching license. Tommie taught at Elk Valley Elementary for two and a half years and enjoyed it. However, she chose to leave teaching to work as a foster parent in our community and eventually went on to start a family. She has since homeschooled her children for the last six years. Tommie has a love for learning, students, and helping others. She is thankful to be able to help teach the Introductory New Testament course this semester at CLC.

Donnie Poston,

Teacher

Donnie Poston was born and raised in the Valley View area of Campbell County, attended Valley View Elementary, and later served there for 19 years as the school principal. He has received multiple degrees and certifications in education, school administration, business education, and counseling from various schools: Lincoln Memorial University, Union College, University of Tennessee, Liberty University, and Trinity College. 

 

Mr. Poston’s career in the field of education has totaled over 50 years and has included the following roles: teacher at Pinecrest Elementary, principal at Valley View Elementary, Elementary Supervisor for Campbell County Schools, Director of the Christian Academy of Campbell County, and Director of Schools for Campbell County. He currently serves as Prevention Coordinator/Educator for Community Health of East Tennessee, where he has returned to the classrooms throughout the county teaching students about the use/misuse of prescription medications and providing Life Skills Training classes. At the Christian Learning Center, he currently serves as a long-term substitute teacher and loves to minister to students. 

Mr. Poston has passionately concentrated his career efforts toward working with children in three basic areas: regular education, health/safety, and Christian education. His hobbies are studying the Bible and playing music, and he has taught Sunday School and Bible classes for over 53 years and played music at his church for 60 years. He became a Christian 61 years ago. Mr. Poston’s favorite Bible passage is John 17, and his favorite saying is: “Today is the best day of my life… and tomorrow will be even better!”
